If Ford were to bring the (Fusion) Mondeo Vignale over to North America. I didn’t think the Fusion could look any better than it already does.

What’s wrong with it?

Don’t forget. This exists as well.

Definitely don't see much of that anymore!

These pleated seats look really good

I’m not a big fan of the focus/mondeo but the wagon looks nice.
![]() 06/13/2015 at 22:26 |

I don’t want a wagon though. If I did I would have posted this guy

They do look fantastic, would look great in a nice brown colour.

Meh, I don’t really like wagons. I mean it is nice but I prefer the sedan.
![]() 06/13/2015 at 22:39 |

It is a nice looking wagon though.

Very nice wagon indeed, just not my thing.

It is a rather nice looking sedan as well though.

Needs RS.

I like it but is it really worth the £6,500 over the Titanium.
But then again once you spec it to same engine (in this case 2.0 Duratorq TDCi 180PS S6 6 Speed Manual), bodystyle and colour (magnetic metallic (£545 cost option the Titanium)) there is only £2,000 difference. So for exclusivity and the Vignale package I think its really worth it.
They are rolling out the Vignale package through the range with I believe the Galaxy or S-Max coming next.

In Austalia you can get something that looks similar...but is a ute.
In before Mondeomino, etc

I do wonder how well this will sell. It’s still ‘just’ a Ford afterall. As a new car it’ll be more expensive to own for a few years than a similar Merc/Audi/BMW due to probably very steep depreciation, yet it lacks the badge.

I would say it’s worth it, the Vignale package makes it a little more premium, more like a Lincoln than a Ford. With your info provided I would most definitely pay for the upgrade.
I do believe the S-Max is the next for the Vignale package.

I find the Vignale package makes it a bit more premium. It is still a Ford at the end of the day but I think the package pushes it to be more like a Lincoln.
Some people might really like this package, only time will tell.

They should make a Fusion ST with the 2.3 from the mustang or 2.7 from the Edge.
Then we can have the FiST, FoST and FuST. Just need the FeST and the FaST (pronounced as fast) to have all the vowels.

Never heard/seen one of these, it's neat!

The Vignale range is Fords attempt to try and keep its customers a little longer. Its always been the way of Fiesta/Escort/Focus to Galaxy/Mondeo and then leave Ford for something more premium (even if it was only in your mind) of a base model Mercedes, BMW 3 Series or Audi A4. This is Fords attempt at premium. Because outside of North America its just Ford unlike how VAG has Skoda/SEAT then you’d look at VW or Audi, then if wealthier you’d go Bentley or Porsche, etc... while staying within the same group simply nurturing you to trade higher and higher.

Ford is doing with the Vignale what David Blaine has been doing the last few years and that is trying to keep relevant. In the U.S. Ford has some other offerings where outside of North America its simply Ford trying to compete with groups that are more varied and even more personal.

I get that and that’s great in theory, but I have my doubts about how it’ll work in real life. At least a corporation like PSA created the DS subbrand, which in my opinion has more potential than an extra luxurious version of a regular car. But we’ll see.

It's a wise decision though, American brands don't do so well in Europe.

Just go up an engine for each model: 2.3 in the Fusion ST (awd mandatory), and 2.7 in the RS. Then 2.0 in the Fiesta RS (awd preferred).
![]() 06/14/2015 at 11:31 |

Fusion RS with AWD and the 2.7 would make for a fast car!

Personally I don’t think it will work as well as Ford want or need it to do.

I think the rest of the worlds cars might do well in the U.S. but U.S. centric would only do okay-ish in few countries outside North America. Buick would die on its head, Lincoln would be a non starter, Chevy have pulled the brand from Europe already, GMC a non starter. Perceptions and executions of vehicles made by these companies would mean they wouldn’t even get looked at and I think Ford know that why they can’t bring Lincoln over here.

I think the only American brands that would sell in Europe are Cadillac, Ford and Dodge. However, Ford doesn’t really count since most of the American models are already the European models.
![]() 06/14/2015 at 15:49 |

Cadillac have tried a couple of times and mainland Europe has a few dealerships but are I think a niche car for something different.

They definitely don't sell well over there.

I only ever saw a few of them in Holland and a couple in Germany.
